Terms of use
The short version: Mizu helps you keep track of money. It never holds your money, and you stay responsible for what you record and for the deals you make.
1. What Mizu is
Mizu is a tool to record and plan money: for yourself, for savings groups and for small lenders and businesses. It is run by the Mizu team.
- Mizu never holds money. It is not a bank, a mobile money service or a lender. Money moves between you and other people, or through your mobile money provider, never through Mizu.
- Health scores, calculators, estimates and tips are guides to help you think. They are not financial advice.
2. Your account
- Use your real name and your own phone number. One login is for one person.
- Keep your password secret. Mizu will never ask for your mobile money PIN.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
3. Groups
- Group officials are responsible for keeping the group's records correct and for adding only members who agreed to join.
- The group's rules are made by the group. Mizu applies the rules the officials set; it does not make them.
- Group records (savings, loans, fines, meetings) belong to the group. If a member leaves, the group keeps its records.
4. Records between people
Records in "Who owes who" are between you and the other person. The other person can confirm or dispute them. Mizu does not decide who is right and does not collect debts.
5. Lender adverts
In "Find a lender", each advert is written by the lender, who is responsible for it, for every loan they give and for following the law. Mizu does not check, recommend or guarantee lenders and is not part of any loan. Featured adverts are paid and always marked. Mizu may remove adverts that are reported or break the law.
6. Messages
WhatsApp and SMS messages are sent from your own phone when you tap a button. Only message people who expect to hear from you, and be kind.
7. Not allowed
- Fraud, fake records, or using Mizu to trick or pressure anyone.
- Lending against the law, or harassing people about money.
- Adding other people's details without a good reason, or trying to get into accounts that are not yours.
We may pause or close accounts that do these things.
8. Keeping Mizu running
We work to keep Mizu available and your records safe, but we cannot promise it will never stop. Download a copy of your records from time to time (Settings → My data).
9. Leaving
You can delete your account at any time in Settings → My data. What happens to group records is explained in the privacy policy.
10. Responsibility
Mizu is a record-keeping tool. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for decisions you make, loans you take or give, or money that changes hands between people.
11. Changes
If these terms change in an important way, we will tell you in the app before the change applies.
